Been there, Done that, got screwed over by those people... I know my standards are pretty high here, but true gold here is rare. Just polish your flash stuff before submitting & you may get past me.

RaidenX

"Great Tribute Game"

submission: RaidenX
date: October 30, 2006

Although this doesn't have the feeling of a true Raiden game, it does have all the elements (but not all the hectic action) to make it a great tribute game.

I'm not completely up with the save function (as the original doesn't have that feature), I can't complain as it allows me to play the game in chunks that I can handle.

Although I'd like to see graphics closer to the arcade games, it's still enjoyable to play.

"Good, but not a MAME replacement"

date: October 30, 2006

While this can't hold a candle to MAME, I will give it some credit for being a very flexible & versatile flash game series.

There are some issues the code that could have been pounded out to make some of the game work better, but it's pretty good as is & impressive that most of the work is done purely in Actionscript.

I'd like to see how well you can make a single flash game with graphic that are more suitable to today's expectations.

Author's Response:

If you want nicer graphics, try my little API game 'Babeball':

Bomb Jack

"Bastardized!"

submission: Bomb Jack
date: October 30, 2006

Sorry, but as a classic gamer (& arcade buff)... this is a bastardized version of the beloved game. No classic sounds, no classic levels, no classic enemies besides the mummies... NO FUN PERIOD!

I'd rather play the MAME version instead of this as it's a sad, sad recreation of good game that plays like crap due to bad flash programmers...

"Pointless & Boring"

date: September 26, 2006

Sorry to say it, but your animation was a snooze-fest... nothing really entertained me & your usage of songs in your animation did nothing either.

Animation, way too basic (we're talking KINDERGARDENER here, not "South Park Studios" basic) to wake me up & your storyline was non-exisiting.

Next time, give us an idea within the animation on what's going on as well as some idea on why they're doing it. Just step up your quality here & you'll get higher scores IMO.

The Skater Guy

"GET A PRELOADER!!!"

submission: The Skater Guy
date: September 26, 2006

The first rule when making flash animations is that you put a preloader in when the file size exceed 10 KB because PEOPLE HATE TO STARE AT A BLANK RECTANGLE WHERE YOUR SMEGGIN' FLASH ANIMATION IS SUPPOSE TO BE!!! This is especially true for modem users, who can't download at speeds faster than 10 KBps in most cases (hence the low allowance)

If you put in a preloader (even the Newgrounds pre-made one), people wouldn't be blamming your animation & you'd get a more justified score.

Mario Bloopers

"Bloopers seem Out of Context"

submission: Mario Bloopers
date: September 25, 2006

I just couldn't get into the animation because the bloopers seem so out of context for the game (Super Mario World), making it very difficult to get a laugh out of me.

Try to mimic the game as much as possible (to make it believable. Avoid using stuff that's not in the game unless it's part of the blooper.) & then mix in your bloopers to achieve your desired laughs. Whatever you do, DO NOT SET UP THE AUDIENCE! Get rid of those blooper titles as it ruins the surprise of the blooper, which in sense ruins the desired laugh.

The key to bloopers is give the views an unexpected surprise, which this animation doesn't quite pull it off. Maybe the next one will be better (if there's a next one).

Red Dwarf - Log

"Disappointing: Not as good as the TV series..."

submission: Red Dwarf - Log
date: March 4, 2006

Cram about the first 5 seasons (or series, pending on your view) of Red Dwarf, remove all the humorous bits of the series out & this is what you get... some extremely boring recap.

Go to the BBC's Red Dwarf website Or the official Red Dwarf website to cleanse yourself from this smeggin' garbage.

I just hope something better come out in the future... I rather listen to the Arnold J. Rimmer song for eternanity than watch this again.

Author's Response:

And what the hell is wrong with the Rimmer Munckin song!?!?!?!?!!!??!?!?

Look, this is just a small recap to introduce people to Red Dwarf that may not have heard of it, before the main feature is released. Otherwise, they won't be able to feel involved in what's going on, and belive me, this is needed for "Blackhole" to work.

Lighten up. Calm down. Or smeg off.

Loquat: The Movie.

"Needs more substance, but has potential"

submission: Loquat: The Movie.
date: March 4, 2006

This animation is a little short on a storyline, but the idea is intriguing that I want to see more...

There's not enough here to be much interest, but there's potential to have something great coming out of it... So give us more to watch than this teaser!

The Next Metroid

"Too Long to load w/o a preloader"

submission: The Next Metroid

Next time you make a flash animation, PLEASE USE A PRELOADER ON IT!

I got sick of looking at a white screen waiting for the flash animation to load!

Smash Bros DX

"OK, but not very intriguing"

submission: Smash Bros DX
date: September 18, 2004

The animation was OK, but DBZ-type character battles are overdone. The storyline is pretty sparse & the title suggest that there's going to be some humor in this... which there was not.

There were some sprite graphic incompatibilities (SMW Mario with a Paper Mario set? That's just poor taste!) that really detracted from the overall quality of this animation.

Nice Try, though.
